TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS
1. The Works
1.1 The Contractor shall carry out the electrical works described in the attached Estimate/Quote (Ref: [Number]) at the location specified by the Customer.
1.2 All works will be carried out in accordance with BS 7671 (The IET Wiring Regulations) current edition and relevant Building Regulations (Part P).
1.3 Any variations or additions to the work requested by the Customer will be subject to a separate cost and must be agreed upon in writing (or email) before being undertaken.
2. Price and Payment
2.1 The Price: The total price for the work is £[0.00].
.2 Payment Terms:
* Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of [X]% is required to secure the booking.
* Stage Payments: (For larger jobs) Payment is due upon completion of First Fix and then Second Fix.
* Final Payment: The balance is due immediately upon satisfactory completion of the works.
2.3 Late Payment: The Contractor reserves the right to charge interest on overdue amounts at a rate of 8% above the Bank of England base rate, pursuant to the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 (for business clients) or general contract law (for consumers).
2.4 Title of Goods: All goods and materials supplied remain the property of PLS Electrical until paid for in full.
3. Customer Obligations
3.1 Access: The Customer will ensure safe and clear access to the work area during working hours (Mon-Fri, 08:00–17:00).
3.2 Preparation: The Customer must clear the working area of furniture and valuables. The Contractor is not liable for accidental damage to items left in the working area.
3.3 Services: The Customer will provide free use of electricity and water for the duration of the works.
4. Making good and Decorating
4.1 Chasing Walls: Where wiring requires channelling into walls, the Contractor will fill these chases with bonding or filler to a “bonding coat” finish only.
4.2 Decoration: The Quote does not include painting, wallpapering, final skimming, or other re-decoration work unless specifically detailed in the Scope of Works. The Contractor is not responsible for matching existing paint or decor.
5. Cancellation (The “Cooling-off Period”)
This section applies if the Customer is a consumer and the contract was signed at their home.
5.1 Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the Customer has a right to cancel this contract within 14 days of signing without giving a reason.
5.2 Starting Work Early: If the Customer requests work to begin before the 14-day period ends, they must sign a “Waiver of Cooling-off Period.” If they subsequently cancel, they must pay for labour and materials provided up to the point of cancellation.
6. Warranty and Liability
6.1 Workmanship: PLS Electrical guarantees all labour/workmanship for a period of 60 Months from the date of the Installation Certificate.
6.2 Materials: Parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
6.3 Liability: The Contractor holds Public Liability Insurance. The Contractor is not liable for any consequential loss or damage (e.g., loss of food in a freezer during a power cut required for the works) unless caused by negligence.
7. Unforeseen Issues
7.1 The price is based on the assumption that existing wiring and earthing arrangements comply with regulations. If dangerous or non-compliant wiring is found that prevents new work from proceeding, the Contractor will cease work and provide a quote to rectify the issue.
8. Jurisdiction
8.1 This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
